this looks legit. i'll go with AU55. it looks a little dull for a mid AU coin however it may have been dipped a while ago and retoned. it might grade straight.

Thanks @Pan!
This coin does have polishing hairlines in the fields; most coins I find in Rome have been dipped or polished; I have found about 50-60 Morgans (and about 30 Peace) and I suspect about 10-15 haven't been cleaned; of those . . . maybe 6-8 are heavily circulated.
I'm curious what cleaned Morgans and Peace sell for in the U.S. - ones like the coin above with hairlines . . .
Thanks!

I was at a local show in NC over the weekend and saw circulated common-date coins selling between $30-$40. Prices are easing down in the last few months.

Thanks @Bump. I imagine there are a lot of sellers right now; at least from what I hear about prices in the U.S.

@pan...thank you again... Here's the closest I can get to a photo of the hairlines... In curious how this impacts the value of a Morgan... Most aren't this polished but many are at least dipped.

Panzaldi- It is very obvious this coin has issues, and the fact you cannot see that is concerning.

@numis...given the issues...am I in the ballpark of reasonable at about $27.50 on these?

Quote: It is very obvious this coin has issues, and the fact you cannot see that is concerning i called the coin AU55 possibly cleaned because the shadows were hiding the surfaces in some of the areas. its not a harsh cleaning but the coin does look dipped. also of note is that the hairlines on the blowup photo do not crossover onto the devices. I'm not 100% convinced that they are not die polish lines. if you attempt to clean a coin its practically impossible to miss the devices and leave those kinds of marks on the field in a tight area without hitting the devices

@pan.... Thank you. This is precisely why I am posting... To learn more about Morgans. The devices do not show polish lines.

Quote: The devices do not show polish lines.. be careful with the term polish lines. there are two types. die polish lines and PMD from polishing. when you talking about die polishing lines make sure you qualify it so thats it not confusing as to intent of your statement.

Thanks IGE...I always appreciate it. I know you aren't into ancients but I posted a few pictures from a collection I bought today elsewhere in the thread.
