Yup, the proof set, and the Construction Battalion #2, - the rest of my budget went on the 'Royalty release' last week. It's what I was afraid would happen.

YesOrNo said, regarding the Pysanka coins:
Quote:
Sadly, the mintage has increased 36%, from 5,500 last year to 7,500.

With good reason, and to a worthy cause, My rep from the MInt wrote in his email this morning:
Quote:
This year, all net proceeds from the sale of our gold and silver pysanka coins will be donated to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal

The $175 Fine Silver Coin - From the R&D Lab: Birds in Shadow Box looks neat. With only 282 of them, they must have went quick.

Which one of you bought ALL of silver Pysanka eggs on TSC? There has been none today.

I gave the RCM more of my American money today by buying the silver proof set and added the quarter-ounce silver queen photo $5 coin from last month's offers.

I'm pretty sure that I'll be 'donating' lots of my money to the RCM this year, as there will be a slew of items offered after King Charles' coronation.

I received my 'fine proof set' yesterday. Expecting the same as all other years, I was surprised that the obverse and reverse of the sets were NOT covered with a protective plastic. Was mine 'odd' or did the mint save 2cents by not covering the plastic this year?

Mine arrived packaged the same way as the previous 5+ years. Cardboard mailing box --> light-brown paper wrap --> black thick paper box --> white tissue covering --> black 'leather' wallet --> clear plastic 'tomb' --> coins inserted into a black plastic sheet. The clear plastic 'tomb' is attached to the spine of the wallet and can be popped open to get the black sheet (and coins) out. Without the 'tomb', nothing would hold the coins secure in the wallet.
Would like to hear more info of how your set arrived.

Mine did not have a protective plastic cling covering the "tomb" either. My plastic has a scratch on it which means it's going back.

Thankfully, mine is in pristine condition, so I'll keep it. But this is the first set without the protective plastic, and I always get one Fine proof and one specimen set every year.

Received Maple Leaves in Motion today. Looked better than I expected. And the quality is solid.

@YesOrNo: Nice pickup! Congrats!

Definitely an interesting field on the reverse. Is it effective in creating the illusion of motion?

@commems the quality of this coin is excellent; I haven't seen any imperfection on this coin. I recommend this coin.

However, I feel the smallest leaf at bottom should have a higher relief. Right now, that leaf seems a bit collapsed.
