Images are a bit soft to see the details. I'll go XF45 due to uncertainty of what's actually there. Quote:

i dont know what to think of this one. its an odd bird for me. strong hair detail right above the forehead, strong lettering and date. on the reverse the right stalk is weak but the all the lettering looks pretty sharp. I'm going to agree with the others XF45

I'm really unsure. Such weakness in the cheekbone/temple area. Some mint color? EF-45 I guess.

The dies were reworked in 1916, these are normally very sharp. This coin shows a lot of wear. The cheek is nearly flat and the wheats heavily worn. Still a cool woody!

i wasnt aware of the reworked dies in 16. thanks Badthad but why would that have that affected this coin? if the dies would have been reworked prior to this one then I would expect the devices such as the coat, hair and stalks to be sharper. if the dies were not reworked prior to this coin then what caused the disparity between those same areas and say the coat or back of head? this is the reason my thought was weak strike rather than die related and possibly struck just prior to rework. this would lead to a higher grade and what we are seeing is more strike related than actual wear  |

This year is known for sharp and detailed coins across the mints - and so are 1917-1918 for the same reason. Notice the detail in the hair and beard on a mint state example.  Edited by BadThad

Absolutely, look at IN GOD WE TRUST, it's very sharply struck. If there were die issues, we'd see it right there. The cheek and jaw are nearly merged.
