I'm thinking AU50 obverse (light strike on tail feathers), EF40/45 reverse. Net EF45. Paid fair price for the coin, so on balance I'm pleased.

I think a lot of your experimentation has been in soaking in solutions to take away from the surface to remove unwanted build up. A suggestion would be to look into methods of creating a new layer of patina after the gentle chemical treatments. Copper-Nickel coins react less to oxidation than their bronze counterparts. It is a long road to get to what works. There was a member here who used to do new metal layer development on a windowsill in the sun or sandwiched in different types of cardboard. Seems like a skill that takes a long time to calibrate and learn.
