I was already surprised with what was going on with this coin but am now very perplexed with Silvio's statement. I was not aware that they did not abrade/polish dies after 2003 but after scouring different sites and even coins, I cannot find any examples, I guess I had just never paid attention to this before....
Actually, on closer inspection, that is some serious push doubling, "die movement doubling", or maybe that class IX/VIII stuff. Look at the letters in Liberty, the N of In, the W of We. Or it could be DDD, it's hard to see the shape outlines around the letters at this level of zoom.
I don't know what would cause that, though. The direction of the ghosts on Liberty is different from the direction of In and We.
Petespockets55 I think bring a very logic explanation. Me I think also as the planchet scratch before striking. What is inconsistent we see different directions of those scratches.

Here ya go, Brandmeister. I think the lighting was lending to what you were seeing. There may be a little notching on LIBERTY but very minor, if any. I think polishing may be the majority of what is giving the devices a distorted look. The nexus of the N is a good place to look though.
Deep Purple and Pink Floyd will be never ever be reach Near them I will put Emmerson, Like and Palmer. They perform on 4 to 5 instruments, no mixing nothing and sound as the most moderns studios. Those are the groups I like to hear all the time.
The same in our coins we had Herb, Stanton, Potter, Wex, Dr. Sepp, Favas and many others, with no electronic microscope just an 5 to 10x magnifier and we have the best result. I am sorry not to venerate all.
