I had a few packages during the height of Covid that sat somewhere for over a month. Then magically reappeared.

@Jess1234 yes the coin finally arrived. I've never not had one ever show up (knock on wood), but another one had a straight line to get to me but went zig-zagging all over the distribution centers instead. I'm sure there are a lot of similar experiences, especially in the last couple years with USPS. They've really gone downhill. A month or so ago I received a jury summons for someone else. If I had thrown it in the trash that person could be in legal trouble.

Jess, you were quite fortunate that they made it to you after their trans-Pacific journey!

yeah, and they went across the Pacific Twice! and you still got them.
Maybe China needed them for a short time in order to create more fakes..

Does anybody else think it odd that there is a premade stamp for "Missent to Hong Kong"?

Don't throw that envelope away. There are postage-ephemera collectors out there who appreciate items like that.

Since both places have cities named "Victoria", it may not be all that uncommon an occurrence. Even here in Australia, it happens; items shipped from overseas to a city or town in Victoria (An Australian state) get shipped to Canada or Hong Kong instead.

This stamp was applied by Hongkong Post in Hong Kong, on their realising the mistake, before sending it back. The stylized bird logo on the left of the stamp is their current emblem. Wikipedia.

As for making stamps for unusual postal events, it seems to be standard practice within post offices, worldwide. My favourite is a blackened, waterlogged envelope spotted with a little square stamp saying "damage due to vandalism of postal box".

But back to the OP's question: I've had some odd shipping experiences from America. One guy was getting worried that his tracking website was saying the parcel he sent me was still in Atlanta. I had to assure him it was nice and safe on my desk in Australia. As far as USPS is concerned, it's still sitting in Atlanta.

Awesome information Sap! I will definitely keep that envelope, although I really wouldn't know what to do with it. Any ideas?

I had a few coins I ordered at the end of 2016 that didn't arrive. I knew it came to the main hub post office and the seller did as well. After a few months, I told the seller I'm requesting a refund. She agreed. Near the end of 2019, the coins arrived. I went looking for the seller online to pay her again, but the store was no more. There was a written note on the envelope stating lost behind bins. Btw, any deal you make whether on here or anywhere else make sure there is tracking.

I once had a package from Connecticut to Delaware that never arrived. After about 1 month I filed for a refund and received the refund. To my surprise, 13 months later the package arrived intact. I had already deleted any correspondence from the seller so I was unable to reimburse him for his loss.

I disagree Jess1234......My coins were free $130- $135 range I think. Always insist on tracking though even if you have to pay.
