That's my point. If these are clad, they are worth big bucks. The edge pics look like they are clad.

To be clear, you meant standard cupro-nickel clad (75% copper, 25% nickel cladding on pure copper core).

These small dollars are clad. They have the same pure copper core, but use a manganese brass cladding instead of cupro-nickel.

Looking at coin facts from this site, it leads me to think that they are a composite coin not clad.
The Sacagawea page is correct...

Cladding: 77% copper, 12% zinc, 7% manganese, 4% nickel
Core: 100% copper

I have asked Bobby to fix the other two (Presidential and Innovation).

No, something is screwy. This sites coin facts says 2007 are clad, then they changed to composite. Everywhere else I see is that they are all composite. Someone is wrong. Composite is 88.5% copper, 6%zinc, 3.5% mag, 2% nickel

So, if these are clad then whats makes that coin all washed out?

Also, still need to get scale.

They are all clad, the composition is the same as the Sacagawea dollars.

Okay, I'm intrigued. I've always been under the impression that all of the 'Golden Dollar' coins are clad, regardless of the year. I've seen many error coins for sale that are missing the clad layer on one side or the other, but I don't remember the date.

I'm going to open a few rolls of small dollars to see what I can see.

Look again, fellas...

Bobby corrected the error on the pages.

The golden dollars are clad. They have always been clad. There would be no reason whatsoever to change them to a solid composition.

No jbuck, your 2nd link says 2007 are clad then 2008 on are composite. Something is still screwy.

I checked 150 coins, both Sacagawea and Presidential dollars with dates from 2000-2011, and all show a copper core with the classic metal drag of the clad layer (from the gang punch) on the edge.

I also found a few coins on the interweb that were missing a clad layer. My search also led me to the NGC website with info on Golden Dollar missing clad error as seen here...

Ugh! We need to fix the rest of them... I only saw the first set of numbers when I reported it. Sorry about that.

Okay, I weighed the two coins. The shinny Gold coin weighs exactly 8.1 grams as required

The washed out coin is 7.98 grams.

So the coin is missing cladding.

Correct?

± 0.3 grams for the small dollar coins.

So, anything from 7.8 to 8.4 grams is acceptable.
