At least they came through on the 1861 Indian. Sometimes you've got to look at the bigger picture.

I surprised it didn't pull an AU details, cleaned with those rim nics.

I don't believe it's been cleaned. Look at my original pictures. Is what it is, though.

The lighter areas around the date made me wonder if someone tried to remove the dark areas. Still like the look of the coin overall.

UPDATE: OK, you guys are going to fuss at me for wasting the money, but I just had to know. I cracked it out and submitted to NGC. Came back as MS61BN. Straight graded.

Pcgs seen something in hand, that's for sure. Hopefully you actually got rid of that verdigris before sending it in.

Congrats on the new grade! Too bad you had to spend more in grading fees to get there . . .

Winner Winner. Nice job and extra effort that is properly rewarded with the UP grade.

My first impression was that the coin had been cleaned due to the dirt buildup around the date and letters. Probably dipped but not harshly cleaned. Perhaps that is what the TPG graders were seeing to call it unc details. Glad you got a straight grade on your re-submission.
