Well, I think we have a consensus on this issue. Just for clarity, the auction was on ShopGoodwill. I see lots of coins for sale there and am often amazed at whatsome of the auctions go for.

Oh dear. Went to their site and filtered for Coins and Currency. This was the first auction I saw. They also have a nice fake Trade dollar, too.

@Hondo: I suspect they have zero experience in coins/currency and wonder how they manage to get so many lots of coins "donated". And I found it does little good to alert them of a problem as the auction will be over before I get a reply.

Mike, I wonder what is involved with registering to bid on their items. Not that I will.

Quote: what is involved with registering to bid on their items Registering is simple. You don't enter a payment method until you win an auction. I'm registered and won several non-coin auctions: Silvertone electric guitar, camcorder, 20 mpixel digital camera, headphones, 3 electric magnifiers for low vision people, several microphones.

Quote: Time to get away from sites like that.. FAR away.. Not so fast Dearborn. That site supports Goodwill which is a good organization. Also, you can find some good deals there on other merchandise. Like the Silvertone electric guitar which cost me $23 + S/H. Or the Minolta MN35Z 20M pixel camera I got for $26. Both items work just fine. I've gotten other deals, too. So don't be so quick to throw the baby out with the bath water, please. I know CoinFrog wants me to move on but I had to post one final message. The final auction price? Wait for it. scroll down... $282!

Oh, I know Goodwill very well, in fact my company in a main vendor for their stores for Horizontal cabling of their networks (Phone/Data).. I see the stuff that gets brought in, I've seen their main distribution warehouse and I know how they 'handle' items (not gentle at all) So I will not buy site unseen from their web site. I shop instore Goodwill sites, and I get good deals, but I'll only buy from them if I can put my hands on it to get a good look.
So I stand by my statement. I have seen their internal operations than not many others have the 'opportunity' to see.
When a new store opens up, it is my company that is one of 2 in my location that is part of the construction team.

Quote:" no mint marker." Is that like a magic marker? No, it is one of those special markers that retailers use to authenticate money (normally bills/notes) In this case it failed because there was " no mint Marker" on it.

1. Provided that I have independently proven information on ASW. 2. Provided that I can buy at below spot.
Needless to say, my silver stash grows very slowly. Nevertheless, I have accumulated about 700 grams over about 30 years.
