I see three vertical gouges, two partly obliterating the first 4 and one in between the two fours. That isn't an error though--just damage.

I luckily was at my bank making a deposit when a coin collector's family brought in a bag of $50.00 worth of pennies. I have sorted them by indian head (1), wheat (2500+), memorial and shield the rest. They are all in great shape. A You Tube video caught my eye on 1944, so I am going through them. Have maybe 250 1944, 1944s, 1944d. I have seen one a d stamped over s.

I'll work on the pics. I see maybe a D DD and an extra 4. Thanks in advance for your 2 cents.

I think that's damage on the date. PMD is my vote.

Quote: A D stamped over S Yes That is indeed an over-mintmark error worth a bit more than regular cents of the same date... Likewise, we would like to see pics of that cent perhaps in a new thread new topic to help confirm what you have.

to the CCF Looks like damage to me. And Coinfrog, there are 2 OMM on the 44D. They are 2 very valuable OMMs.

Coinfrog, I believe mr whatsit was responding to the original poster stating he had 250 44's and saw a OMM in the ones he hasn't posted
