The leg is a shallower part of the die detail so it could be easily over polished.

Unable to grade from those photos.

Coin is slabbed, so I'm not so much concerned about grading. I'm more interested in the apparently weak or missing back leg.

I'll guess that it's the photography. The color and legends look weird, and the back of the bison looks weak too, like around the tail.

Point taken, IGE. Didn't think of that, but I guess this might fall more into the error category. Just really hard to say given the sellers' pictures. If I get it, I'll post new pictures. Regardless, once the auction ends, I'll post the slabbed grade.

blast if its weak strike then enlighten me how the surrounding areas are not affected by it including the rim right next to it? if you have a legit reason as to how that occurred i'll change my assessment. either way it doesn't effect the coins grade though
the second one you posted I'm going with die polishing and yours being a later die state I'm saying it was even more polishing in that area

I don't think for a minute the coin I'm bidding on is a weak strike. I think it's a heavily polished die, which is what interests me in this coin. The sample I posted is just for comparison. The sample is an obviously weak strike surprisingly graded at MS 67. I'm seeing an interesting coin worth bidding on within reason for the coin I'm bidding on.

Good luck! Not particularly a fan from what I can see.

Guess we'll see how it plays out. Either way, I'll report. This is simply an interesting coin that piques my interest. To me, this makes the hobby fun.

Well, we will never know. The coin pictured is PCGS graded at MS66. I went on the seller's website looking around and found exactly the same pictured coin under another auction listing. I hit them up to ask about that and got a very quick reply that they are using stock pictures, but that the coin you receive is the same grade by the same TPG. Since I was only interested in this particular coin, I asked to withdraw my bid. Auction still has 2 days to go.

That's what I expect unless it's very clearly stated. The seller cancelled my bid with no problem. Another case of caveat emptor. Shame, I really wanted that coin.
