With the photo lighting being so bright, I think only the largest marks are showing up. MS-63

good job on the new photos blackjak it appears that the original luster is gone on this one. typically we this on over dipped coins. there are two possible grades here. AU58 slider and MS61. ive seen several MS61 grades on coins that were over dipped rather than give it a details designation compare the luster here with any MS63 coin and you'll see what I mean heres an example of an MS61 graded by ANACS that look very similar to this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/2961311916...9SR6ba0-LAYw |

I know how hard it is for many of us (myself included) to get crisp accurate photos of coins. With uncirculated coins it is often difficult to capture cartwheel luster After viewing both your 78s and 79s coins, they both appear to not have any original luster and I would have to concur with Panzaldi that they are likely over dipped. You have the coins in hand. Can you tilt them back and forth under a light and see any cartwheel effect in the fields or is luster present only on the highest devices?

As I understand it, this coin has been the subject of two different threads, and reviewing the grading comments (which are all over the map), I confess to having no idea at all.

i think these photos are sharp enough and without glare thats its pretty easy to see the surfaces as they look in hand. the original surfaces have been removed. there is only one way to get this over dull look on an high AU low MS coin and thats to over dip it.
the coin is fairly clean when it comes to marks however any of the big houses would not grade this coin MS63 or better without original surfaces. based on all the original assessments one can see now why those photos were insufficient to grade by. blackjak did a great job retaking the new ones to allow for a proper assessment.

This Coin lacks eye appeal and has Luster issues.
With these photos there's zero chance it grades 63 or higher.

Original Luster, Long Gone, Yes, One Sweet 1878-S Morgan silver dollar, Nice Fine details, Well Struck Coin. Anna Looks Awesome with Her Profile being White Frosted Cameo Like, B 2 Reverse- Parallel Top Arrow Feather, Concave Breast. The coin Has been Fortunate to Have The San Francisco mint mark, Easily The Premiere Mint of the America's.!!! IMO. Perimeter has Toning along the Denticles, The FIRST Year of The MORGANS !!!!
