Looking forward to the release of the new $2 coloured 'C' Mintmark coin featuring War Animals Remembrance. Silver coin also available. Same same as 'Vietnam' coin it seems. Will the value after release exceed the silver proof Vietnam coin? The design far exceeds the first 'red poppy' coin, going by the description so I expect it to be extremely sought after. $22.50 for the UNC coin is a big price rise from the previous coin @ $15 each. Inflation is rising through the roof.

The $2 coloured purple poppy coin featuring War Animals Remembrance is supposed to be in circulation as well. I have heard that dealers were having the rolls.

As usual, already on ebay. Some people are VERY confident that they will be able to access them for resale. Where are these ebay sellers getting them from? Are they RAM authorised dealers selling them under an alias? How can anyone be so sure they will be successful in getting those coins to sell? It doesn't pass the pub test - it stinks!

At 8pm EST, 15 sold already for up to $300 each. One seller advertising 10 for sale. Us plebs have to go into a ballot for the CHANCE of getting one! How are these ebay sellers getting these coins so early and guaranteed? Insiders of some sort- who else could have 10 for sale this early before the official release? How much longer is this rorting going to go on for?

Totally agree with you SallyG, somebody has to put a stop to it. The whole distribution system is rorted beyond belief.

The distribution system starts with the RAM and unless there is pilfering from within the RAM, they (should) know where the coins have gone and who has got them. Those coins would have been distributed under some sort of contract and I would assume there would be some sort of 'embargo' clause included. This early release via ebay sellers has been going on for several years now and RAM would be aware of that - how could they not be? So it begs the question, why doesn't the RAM do something about it? I suspect that these early releases generate a level of excitement that artificially inflates the price of the "commemorative" coins and in turn means that the RAM will have a revenue stream even if the demand for circulating coins keeps diminishing. The RAM would only have to keep churning out 'junk' coins in limited quantities to keep it going. I doubt their foray into socks, fluffy toys or plastic tea strainers is going to sustain them in the long run. They need to do something to make a profit.

I suspect the ebay sellers have signed up as RAM Mint distributors - they get coins way before public As far as RAM doing something about it, well, you can't see what is under the rug !!!

Quote: I suspect the ebay sellers have signed up as RAM Mint distributors - they get coins way before public How do I sign up? The RAM has a list of distributors on its website. https://www.ramint.gov.au/australia...distributorsThe sellers on ebay do not appear to be on this list unless they are incognito.

If you want to become a RAM distributor you should read the "Domestic Wholesale Terms of Trade" for RAM Wholesale Dealers https://www.ramint.gov.au/sites/def...of_trade.pdfHope that link works but if it doesn't, a Google search should find it. I cannot work out how members of the public can get early access to these collectors coins to sell on ebay before the official release. Unless there is pilfering going on regularly (which I think IS VERY unlikely) then the only other people who have access to these coins are the dealers. I am not a lawyer but there are some interesting clauses in that document that would suggest either the wholesale dealers are either in breach of the "Terms of Trade" or the RAM is turning a blind eye to their early selling (either using an alias on ebay or using a third party). For anyone interested have a look at clauses 2.3.3, 5.1.4 and 5.2.1. Those clauses deal with trading name, "communicating" embargoed material and using "an Australian currency coin design" in advertising. I doubt the RAM care, this has been going on for years. What has been done about it? ebay don't care as they get a commission from the sales. Oh well, fingers crossed for the ballots. Good luck everyone.

Why would the RAM sell a coin to you when they can put it on ebay and get 10 times their "retail" price for it.

Anyone get any on the EQL? I got around a dozen friends and family to sign up (confident none of us would win) both for the RAM EQL and the MRRoberts EQL, and I was correct, none of us did.. lol.. Not one of us even got a regular C mintmark (which I also suspected would be the case) and there were meant to be 100,000 of them.. Luckily my local post office got me one..
I mentioned elsewhere I decided not to 'collect' the silver $2 coins, if I get one from EQL then great, but if I don't, I will not pay scalpers for one..
