The edge shows a cut and tear texture... could it be a double clip?

I think it is legit. the funny arc on the clip is caused by the metal movement towards the empty center area.

A complete edge shot would help but I'm thinking genuine also!

Good day jfeed. I'm a bit sceptical because of the way the rim appears to have been damaged by plyers above the T in Trust. The rim appears to be crushed into the T, but the other letters, rust don't.
On a side note: one of these days I have to find out what a Blakesley Effect is that Tacc mentioned. ErrorsRCool.

It's a genuine curved (concave) clip. The E of CENT shows significant distortion (metal flow), which is proof positive of its authenticity.

Always good to hear from Mike. Great explanation. I really appreciate all comments and help. One more 2X2 for my small clip collection.

Amazing clip that I would have thought was a fraud, but when MD says "Proof positive" I'm a buyer.
