@.coin_coin_guy.."I know silver turns black sometimes, but how did this coin come to be this way..."
...Exposure to fumes from furniture polish is one way to turn silver black. I learned this the hard way, storing & displaying some nice silver coins in a wooden display table. From time to time, I'd use a particular wood polish & restore product on the table, & boy did those once lustrous coins turn dark ...

Everyone seems to love this coin, but the images are too dark to see much of anything to my eyes,

@westernsky- I would like his information, maybe he can help me with my other coin I posted about. The 1795 holed Bust. @Coinfrog, I will post the PCGS cert. This is probably my grail coin, just wished when I bought it I knew how dark it was, but no regrets. It is hard for me to see under lights also.

Keep a lot of light handy when viewing it. You'll love it. Don't even try to view it in low or dim lighting.

Coin Coin Guy - I have not communicated with Allen Stockton (the coin repair service guy) in several years. If you do an internet search for him in Monticello KY he should pop-up. There may also be some coin repair threads on the Collectors Universe PCGS Coin discussion forums that mentions him and his work. Hopefully, he is still active in the business. Good luck!
