one more observation is that it is a slightly rotated die clash.

Nice clash. Assuming the reverse also shows the clash, you should be able to locate the crook of Lincoln's neck on the reverse and determine exactly where that artifact came from. Looks to me like a bay from the memorial (obviously).

As Dearborn noted, the coin is showing a rotation of about 7.3°. Here's a Photoshop Clash Overlay of a Memorial cent showing this amount of die rotation. It may help locate other clash marks on the coin.

I have found a pile of clashed over the years and have yet to find one that was not rotated.
