Wonderful coin and a true rarity. Is that an NGC holder?
On the conservative side, I am at VG8 due to the lack of LIBERTY letters,

Not in my collecting field...but i"ll say it's in a F-12 holder.

Just wondering how the pock marks on the neck below the jaw line would affect grading ?

I see original surfaces and wear to the VG10 level. Attractive looking example.

Fine-12 but looks amazing, never seen such a nice Fine specimen(I know condition is fine, but the lack of gunk on it is nice)

Classic grade-flation. This would never have been considered a Fine when I was a kid.

Definition of F-12 to me. I see all of LIBERTY. No gradeflation here as this is what I learned in the old ANA grading guide.

Fine (F 12). On the front, all of the letters of LIBERTY will be visible, but the bottoms of a couple letters may be very weak or missing. Laurel wreath has more detail. On the back, about half the feathers and most or all of E PLURIBUS UNUM will be visible. http://www.barbercoins.org/Barber-H...ading.shtml)

Nice example. These early dates are hard to find with full reverse rims. I'm guessing it graded a F.

It's close to F12 - but I'll stay at VG10.

Gradflation is unfortunately here to stay, we have no choice. This one looks like an F-12 on the PCGS Grading Site.

Thanks for all the input so far! This one is in a NGC F-12 holder.

It is a very original coin, but is very much on the VG-10 to F-12 border, in my opinion, and it looks like you all agree.

I am going to try to snag this one come auction time. Since it would be cracked out to go into my album and won't stay in a F-12 holder, I am not looking to pay premium F-12 money for it, so we will see what happens.

Was able to win this one last night. It went for F-12 money as I expected, but originality won me over on this one. The other couple I have seen in the past couple years have not been nearly as original.
