I hadn't posted this one before - a rather modest coin. A Benedict XIV 1756 2 Giuli. The reverse shows the personification of the Holy Mother church seated on clouds holding a set of keys, church building in the background which must be one of the most used reverses in all the Papal states series.

I hadn't posted this one before. Pius VI 1778 1 Carlin (or 5 Baiocco) from the Bologna mint - and indeed it uses that city's coat of arms. The reverse shows a lily. This coin is different enough from the Numista example that I think it should have it's own entry number ( https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pi...376658.html)Unless my search has missed it. The shield type is quite a separate variety.

A recent pickup Pius VI 1780 2 Giuli (0.2 Scudo) with the usual Personification of the Holy Mother church seated on clouds holding a set of keys, church building in the background on the reverse

Another one to post in this catch up Pius VI 1796 Muraiola of 4 Bolognini from the Bologna mint. The reverse here shows Saint Petronius blessing the city on his right, holding pastoral.

That's a nice run, Bacchus2. Thanks for those great contributions!
On the 1744 quattrino, the figure of Saint Ubaldus (EPS S VBAL) identifies the coin to Gubbio (probably you have it attributed that way).
I don;t think I've ever seen that type with the lily. Once again, a Bologna type where the papal reference is very toned down compard to the city symbols. And what you point out about the allegory of holy mother church is very interesting. I wonder why that imagery displaced the Saints Peter & Paul imagery (or at least got a bigger share of the coins)?
