Thanks everyone, now if I could only do this with other denominations. It would be cool to pick up 1938 to 1942 Lincoln proofs cheap, not to mention silver coinage.

Looks like a proof to me too. How much did you pay?

Unit Price: $13.01 USD
Total: $13.01 USD

Shipping and handling: $5.90 USD
Insurance - required : $1.75 USD

Total: $20.66 USD

Maybe it went un-noticed because of the $7.65 shipping cost. And that is Parcel Post!

Definitely looks proof to me, that's an excellent find. Let us know if it checks out when you get it in person. And yes, you're probably right about it possibly being overlooked because of the steep shipping prices, seems like an excellent deal.

I happen to already have a 1942 Proof TY 1 in my collection and it is in a PCGS slab. It is a PR65 and I took a closer look at it today and see that even though it is not noted on the holder, it is a doubled die reverse Wexler WDDR-003 reported, submitted or discovered by Delma K. Romines

I see the doubling now and the obvious die gouge on Jefferson's collar just below his hair.
So I guess, I needed another 1942 proof anyways.

I still am 99% sure this is a proof.
I can take decent images but my program to re size and edit stinks. However, the coin arrived golden and blue toned and was in hand, now in a KOINTAIN. It looks better than this picture, for sure.
The reverse is sharper and even more mirror like in the fields with a slight amount of frosting. There are 6 steps with the last one only slightly weak. Some lettering is distinctly shaped the same as that of my DDR 1942 TY 1.
Particularly the right leg in the M in AMERICA.
I'm happy. Not bad for $20.00.
I would grade it PR64 easily and maybe PR65 on a good day. The reverse makes up for obverse and that slight mark in front of Jefferson's nose shows up under flash.
