It is also entirely possible that the Mint at San Francisco, CA will eventually find itself in good company with Charlotte, NC, Dahlonega, GA, New Orleans, LA, Carson City, NV. These changes happen from time to time.

Perhaps bobby131313 could acquire the mint facility when it closes and turn it into the CCF headquarters. Members with over 20K (quality....) posts could get corner offices...

Quote: One would expect the SF press to have taken it up if there were something there? The larger outlets are focused on broader Bay Area topics or issues with the City itself (and there's no shortage of that). There are a handful of smaller/online-only outlets but those are mainly aimed at specific neighborhoods/districts. The Mint, being a federal office with a relatively small number of jobs and not much real estate in a not-downtown location, probably hasn't registered yet and may not impact the City itself that much, compared to (waves arms) all of this.

IF the SF mint closes, I would hope that the West Point Mint would take over their production. Would definitely hinder their production of the worlds most tradable bullion (which may make the Canadian Maples take 1st) or decrease the number of products offered for collectable coins.
I know DOGE is trying to do good with cutting out wasteful govt spending and I can see why they would have their eyes on the penny and possibly nickel, but just like mentioned before that overhead on those cut would have to be transferred to the rest of their production. The US Mint is self sufficient in its operation thanks to the selling its currency for more than it made it for AND its collector sales. I do not see why they would want to close the SF mint.
I would however like to see a proof set from the W mint!

The uncertainly lingers as my remaining subscriptions all say TBD where they previously had firm dates. Two weeks ago I got a "Confirm Your Subscription Information" email regarding the American Women Quarters 2025 Silver Proof Set which was supposed to ship last week.

This was shipped from Arizona. Not Indiana, Tennessee, or Texas as in the past. Arizona. Sitting in Georgia now. Still no ETA, which is weird. Is this a new thing?

I ordered the Marines commemorative dollar two weeks ago and it shipped from Texas as usual. I subsequently returned it for a replacement and the new one is on its way, both packages going to and from the same Texas facility. Meanwhile, I returned my 2025 Proof Set three times ( ) for replacements due to unacceptable product quality and all packages went to and from Texas, as well. Thankfully, the 4th time was the charm.
