I'm a bit confused here. I thought SMSs (Special Mint Sets) were only made in 1965, 1966 and 1967. Anybody?

There were a few (VERY FEW) 1964 SMS Sets, but all of them were held by the Mint director (I forget her name) but a few of them were handed out to some special people (don't know who) one or some of them have broken out the sets and sold them at auction. |

Thanks Dearborn and Marve65 for the info about the 1964 SMS. A numismatic mystery of which I was unaware.

@Marve, you're probably right but as it hasn't budged at all from $30k. Maybe some fireworks in the last 5 min?

Just an unbelievable coin to be in that condition. If I bought it, lol, I would send it to CACG to get it sticker-ed. Simply beautiful coin which will increase in valuable in near future.
