I agree about weighing the coin.

When I enlarge your image it does appear to be collar Cuds.

Thanks for the welcome and all the replies!

Here's some more close ups of the rim, sorry I couldn't get a better shot with less glare. There is no visible damage/dings in the reeded edge. I did find a small die crack going to an "L" in "Dollar" that I hadn't noticed before.

It also weighs in light at 5.7g, I don't have a 100th scale, but that seems significant regardless. Measures 0.960" to 0.962" in diameter using dial calipers.

I was thinking Rim Fin, too, along with a couple of rim dings.

Being that much light I'd be worried about it being genuine. But that's just me.

Thanks for the welcome and input, Dearborn!

Agreed on the finning. Is the appearance of the rim of the obverse the same? That side had me stumped in comparison to the reverse.

I'll have to see if I can get a better image, then I promise I'll rest my case! The small crack connects to a nodule of excess material for instance, it doesn't look dinged and shifted upward.

As for it being genuine, I picked this out of a junk silver bulk bin for melt, so I have no reason to suspect anything foul. I promise you I'm not trolling here, I didn't want to lead with how I got it, I just got extremely lucky!

Edited to say thank you to all who've replied!

A 32-D in a junk bin? That's over around a $100 quarter. Sorry, but when it comes to raw key coins I was born skeptical until proven otherwise

Marve65, very fair!

The particular place it was purchased has little to no care for numismatics. On the day I purchased it, it looked like someone had dumped a quarter album in the bin, nearly a full spread of dates from 1932 to 64.

Even if unbelievable... I routinely pull silver from their foreign bulk bin as well, no upcharge at checkout.

Right, I am not saying anything about your credibility. I'm 100% focused on the quarter.

Having never sent a coin for grading, and not having a local store with experience, would you send this one were it yours? I think I need to for peace of mind now!

No offense taken either by the way, I didn't think you were knocking my credibility when I added context, I get what you're saying. I'm just terrible at talking online. I find it unbelievable myself.

This here is the only time someone should send a 1932 D Washington quarter for grading...
Anything MS60 and above, and if it's a P01 for the special lowball collectors...
Here are my examples:1932-D-Washington-Quarter-With-Multiple-Errors

Thanks, I hadn't really planned on doing so but I got wondering. As promised, here's the last picture

This is the best I think I'll be able to show the rim; the excess metal is all protruding with no indentation.

Edit: Those are some nice examples, CoinForMe!

ANACS doesn't really cost that much for grading compared to the "Big 3" (strange to say that) NGC, PCGS, and CAC.
