I do the same thing as well. I have a jar 1 each for cents, nickels, dimes, and quarters. (thought about getting more jars to separate by decade, but my house just ain't that big)

Quote: Wow, I do the same thing -makecents-. Now I have several small jars full. There are just too many. When the jar gets full, if I don't go through it (which is most times), it goes in a ziploc baggy. I have several of those. Quote: I do the same thing as well. UPDATE: I actually got this back from John a while ago, but, here's what he wrote: Quote:This was a tough one, but the flat, shelf-like doubling on the ear and back of Lincoln's head make me call this Machine Doubling. I hadn't even noticed the doubling on the back of Lincoln's head!

snailking1, not knocking John, he knows his stuff but I still think this is from a doubled working hub. If you refer back to my link above that I gave you, you will see it is exactly like yours and I found an entire brick of them, not a one off deal like MD usually is. Obviously, Dan from Wexler did not pass this on to John, as I sent Dan a couple of rolls of them.

Thank You -makecents- I had looked back - just figured I'd pass along what I got. Imagine there's a good chance he didn't get the "memo"

I just sent John an email to see if he would like a couple of rolls. I think I still have 8 or 10. I'll let you know if he wants them and what the outcome is.

I sent John two rolls out today, we'll see what he thinks. He said he has probably changed his mind since he saw yours, thinking the same thing as me, as he has seen several more come through in submissions.

Quote: I sent John two rolls out today, Thanks for the update! Can't blame him for first thinking it was just an MD, without having seen the multitude of them out there.

Quote: Can't blame him for first thinking it was just an MD, without having seen the multitude of them out there. No, time is the only way to work through these types of events. I have seen this happen multiple times with doubled working hubs, they are possibly MD or doubled dies until proven otherwise, it takes numbers and different opposing dies to prove this. ADDED: If you look back at my post, I thought it was MD to begin with.

I got the following email from Daniel at Wexler today about this doubling as follows. Per Daniel: Quote:Jon, I finally had a few more 2023 DDOs come in so I'm getting these dies listed now. Anyway I'll be adding your DDO with doubling on the date as 2023 1c WDDO-001. I'll also be listing your doubling on the ear as 2023 1c WWHO-001, though based on the sheer number of dies affected by the doubling it may end up someday as a master hub issue. Either way time will tell. Hope all is well! Dan

An email I received shortly after Dan's email from John. Quote: Hi Jonathan,
Thanks so much for the coins! I can see this is as at least a doubled working hub and we will list it as such. I will list your name as the discoverer. I opened one roll you sent and found at least 4 dies with the same doubling and totally different markers! That should cinch it - lol! Your insights and help are appreciated very much! As stated earlier, I will happily reciprocate the favor and attribute some coins for free or whatever else we can come up with. Have a great end of the weekend and I hope to work with you again soon!
Sincerely,
John Shields
