1941 Walking Liberty Half PCGS Submission Disappointment. Where Did This Go Wrong?

I haven't actually received them back yet, but will in a couple days. Where would I find that explanation? Do they include something in the box?

My best guess are the black mark by liberty and around the rims. Doesn't look bad but that's the only thing I see wrong from the pictures.

I think this may be the damage PCGS noted.

FC, is that called damage because it's otherwise an unc coin? Would that be considered damage on say an XF or AU coin.

And is this also a difference in how the this series is graded compared to say Morgan's for example.

This is just my best guess. PCGS must have seen something and this is the biggest thing that caught my eye. They may have thought it isn't a bag mark, doesn't look like a minor circulation contact, and so must be damage. Their 98 code includes "any form of metal movement, either intentional or accidental." There clearly is some metal movement here, and it is in a central location on the obverse. It doesn't mean I agree with it, but that's the most I saw on my first look.

EDIT: PCGS also lumps corrosion spot removal under their 98 code. There are a few places where there is discoloration or luster disruption on this coin, but I don't see evidence of corrosion. Maybe they saw that differently. The areas I noticed were (1) the spot above Liberty's head on the rim, (2) between the top of the seventh sun ray and Liberty's gown, (3) on Liberty's upper right arm, and (4) the area above the stop between the "F" of HALF and "D" of DOLLAR.

Maybe that particular grader was just having a bad day at the office?

If that is the only thing they found . Than what is the point in having anything graded. Just about all coins that are not high ms have some form of movement from circulation.hopefully when in hand a better explanation shows it self.

Western, I submitted 8 coins with this order. I used up some vouchers (but I still paid for them via membership).

Out of the 8, three were previous PCGS crackouts that came back one numerical grade lower, one was a really nice 21-s Morgan that they ruled pvc damage on and didn't slab (no PVC evidence anywhere from my recollection), one was a 1925 peace that I had pegged at least a 64 and came back a 62, one 1893o Morgan with obvious rim damage that they ruled cleaned (the only submission I was happy with)

To say they crapped the bed is an understatement.

This coin however has me so irked I may resubmit just out of spite lol
