I'm glad I stopped by the forums, or I wouldn't have know about the 2009 rarities!

I got a Log Cabin in change at Radio Shack and fished one out of the fountain at Don Pablos much to my wife's dismay but to my son's great delight (he spotted it). He also said "hey, there's a Wheat penny" but I didn't have the kahunas to go for that one.
Rest in Peace

I've gotten a total of three log cabin cents in change in Virginia - one at a McDonalds, one at a 7-11 and one used in my pond shop to pay with. No dimes, no nickels.

Are these just being hoarded?

I think it's a combination of hoarding and limited release in most areas. By limited release I mean that most banks can't order them for there customers. The banks either got mixed boxes or full boxes, it is the luck of the draw. I was able to get three boxes of LP1's from two local banks but I have not yet gotten one in change. As for the LP2's, I can't find them anywhere. I have asked many banks with no luck,I'm told they don't have any and won't be getting any. I guess I will just have to wait.

There are no 2009 rarities, they just aren't widely available yet.

Well I work at a variety store, and I've seen all but one 09' lincoln log cabin. I predidict that we wont see many in circulation ever because of hoarders like me.

My bank still has not got the new LP2 yet.

They did get the LP1 about 6 weeks after the mint released them but still no LP2 I keep asking and they say they should get them but none to date.

As for dimes and nickels none here in central PA.

When I was in Texas last winter seemed like every penny, dime and nickel was new 2008 so I am hoping this winter will be new 2009 pennies, dimes and nickels but who knows.

I am from PA but spend part of my winters in south Texas.

Last winter every coin I got at the stores and banks seemed to be 2008 pennies, dimes and nickels so I hope this winter will be 2009 pennies, dimes and nickels if they are as many in rolls as last year I will have enough to give anyone some that wants some. Seemed like the rolls from the bank were 3/4 2008 new coins sure hope this year is the same.

This baffles me. In Atlanta I get them 3 or 4 boxes at a time and sell them on ebay. Odd how one city wont have any and another theres no issue finding them.

I have not seen one out in the wild either?
If it were not for this forum, I would be "penny less" which is better than "cents less".
When will the LP3 be released? Anyone know?

Thanks weegie, I am hoping my friends here on the forum will help me with what I'll need. I bought a proof set and have LP1 and LP2 P & D's and I think somebody is going to let me have a mint set of the 10 sets they order, but they will be satin finish.

Here in Minnesota I regularly pull out the new pennies from rolls at work. We get all of our coins from Wells Fargo and we must have just gotten some nice rolls. I have yet to see any new Nickels or Dimes, but we get a lot of the pennies and a lot of the territory quarters.
