Very nice. I wouldn't call myself a huge fan of Trade dollars, but that one is awesome. Again, very nice.

<<I wanna know how much Microsoft stock did you buy when it was $0.35 a share? Everytime I click on something you are showing it is just down right beautiful so I know you have to be some multimillionaire sitting in some condo drinking a maiti somewhere. Heck I couldn't even afford your leftovers>> I wish that was true! I'm just a blue collar worker, putting in 60 to 70 hours a week. The overtime pays for what I collect.

hhbkiddo, only proofs were minted from 1879-1885; the Morgan dollar started in 1878. 979 were minted in 1883, then only 10 and 5 pieces each for 1884 and 1885 respectively! So it is truly a rare piece of history.

I'm one who likes Trade dollars, especially in proof format. Maybe one day I'll spring for a nice proof. You didn't ask for grade opinions, but I'll take a shot. There are quite a few fine hairlines on both sides, nothing too severe but enough to preclude a gem grade IMO. The grading services tend to be more strict with proofs than MS coins when assessing surface imperfections. There is enough contrast to warrant a Cameo designation. So, overall PR-63 CAM. Did I mention it's a beautiful coin? It is!

Nah, that would be the value of an 1884 or 1885(well, maybe the entire model line of Mercedes or Porsche...) an 1883 in PR-63CAM would be a $3-4000 coin

<<maybe I should start looking at US top coins for investments?>> I would recomend collecting what one likes and avoid the investment perspective. You'll get a lot more fun out of the hobbie.

Quote: I would recomend collecting what one likes and avoid the investment perspective. You'll get a lot more fun out of the hobbie I agree. I am too emotionally attached to my coins to think of them as investments. Invest in something you are not going to lose sleep over if you have to sell. And very nice dollar, your pictures are always great to see.
