Calculate the price per square foot that it will cost. Then when the two of you are looking at other options, remind her of the comparatively low cost of the wheatie floor. If that doesn't work, it's because she doesn't like the basic idea, in which case you are out of luck.

If you do decide to go for it, be sure to include a single V.D.B. reverse, as a quest for interested visitors.

Plenty of AB Epoxies would do it without worry. All about prepping the sub-floor smooth and even. Then just grout as normal, or take it a step further and grout and then coat with a thick coat of varnish.

I am worried that I if I coat it deep with a thick coat, then it will be slippery when wet.

If I leave the surfaces exposed, then they will wear down so quickly then I don't think it would work for me.

Some people have gotten pretty creative though.

Oh I could do my whole house without any real impact on my hoard. It is just the gaudy tacky, vs artistic and unique argument.

She is on the fence right now. Frankly so am I. I don't know if it is cool or tacky myself.

You could also do a checkerboard pattern or a "twill" pattern, alternating with the usual tile or wood with areas of pennies. Try that out on the wife.

Hmm maybe we have a use for those Chinese coin mills after all. Wonder how a nice fake Barber Half floor would look?

It would have to really be covered with something to stop the Copper from changing colors. Now I wonder just what the electrical properties of that floor would be in an electrical storm? If all are touching each other, might be an ineresting way to light up a house during an electrical fault in your area. Remember walking across a rug when it is really dry in the house and then touching someone? I wonder how that floor would work for that? Then too, what do you do when your wife is tired of that floor and wives do get tired of things you know.
Instead of all that work, why not get a smelter, melt them all down, pour the Copper right on the floor?

But here we are talking about US coins. We pass laws against our coins wearing out.
That answer about not cleaning the floor. Good one there. With all the post about not cleaning coins, I guess that would apply here.

Looks like they were put down as 12x12 tiles. I just put down a tile floor and my back is killing me, I could not imagine putting those down one cent at a time.

This would be where you would probably have to pay to get it done in a reasonable amount of time... or you'd never have a complete floor!
