Matchbox, No I didn't make it. The wife ended up having to work.  I was going to get a hold of you before I went (if I had gone)and see if you wanted to meet somewhere. In fact, I never got a hold of you about the 4th Lincoln Cent. Although, I have since gotten one. I'm glad to hear it was a good time! a 2009 ASE was one thing I was hoping to buy down there. I normally get one for my wife every Christmas, but due to Colonel's Coins being closed, I still haven't. If you don't mind, how much did you pay for the 2010 ASE? I will probably have to get one on-line before I forget. Was there a good turnout? How many dealers do you think were there? I have a very slim chance of being able to go tomorrow, but I kind of doubt it... |

Schmidty, too bad you didn't make it. I'm really poor at guessing, but I think there were at least 20 -30 dealers. There were quite a few people there and the parking lot was filled but there were other things going on at the Doublewood too. Yes, I remember giving you my cell # but a phone call never happened. Glad you managed to get the LP4. Bremer bank near the Columbia Mall got rolls in and would only sell one to a customer. I went back there a couple times. I paid $20.25 for my 2010 ASE. Like I mentioned it was the first one I ever bought and it won't be my last. They're very nice (as you know). That's cheaper than the ones on ebay. I was hoping to get a 2009 ASE but they appeared to be sold out at several dealers. The gal from the coin shop on Main Ave told me Bob from Colonel's coins died in December and I wasn't aware of it. It shocked me to hear that. He was such a nice man. If you have a few spare hours you should run down there tomorrow. |

Wow, that's too bad about Bob. Yes, he was a very nice man. I'm really going to miss going to his shop.
That's good to know about Bremer. I was looking for them when the first ones came out, but only got blank stares from the banks I went to, I will check Bremer from now on. Do you know if they have dollar coins there?

Thanks for the tip! I'll have to head over to the enemy (wife works at Super One!) and pick some up  Have you heard any talk about if anyone will buy Bob's inventory and open another coin shop? |

After all of that crying and whining about when the show is going to be, you didn't even get your sled dogs out for the trek. I am really disappointed in you schmidty.
I was hoping to hear some exciting tales from the tundra. Are you in the six months of darkness or the six months of daylight up there right now?

Schmidty, it's Sunday here and I hope you're heading to Fargo now for the coin show.
Bob's inventory is being sold at the coin show and being liquidated by the man--- I don't remember his name---- who has the shop in Fargo on Main Ave.. Apparently he was a friend of Bob and his wife so he has the unpleasant task of doing it.

I'll tell you Buddy, the reason that things don't work out the way you plan is because you're "holding out the 'slimest' of hopes" of going. That sounds far too slippery. Better to wipe that blubber oil and grease off of your chin and hands, harness up the team, and just 'do it'!  It is this easy:  |

Noppers...... the Interstate is as clean and dry as can be.... you can clip along at 75+ mph.
Sit back, put a CD in, turn on the cruise control and set sail for Fargo.

"Noppers" ? What are those? Are they what you guys call your dog teams?
75 MPH on dry concrete must get rather hard on the sled rails (not to mention the pads on those poor dogs' feet).
You'll be lucky if you're not reported to the SPCA.

Schmidty.....Are you still alive buddy? I have heard about polar bear attacks and I have been rather concerned since I haven't heard anything out of you in so long.

Hi zeewool. I am still alive. With summer upon us, my coin hobby kind of takes a back seat. Have to take advantage of the above freezing temps whenever possible, right! haha

Oh I am so happy to hear that schmidty. I really was rather worried. Yes, now is the time of year when the snow melts and the tundra gives way to wildflowers and other plant growth (I guess). So what do you folks do when there are no seal pups to club? Do you hunt the arctic fox whose coat has now turned from white to brown? How do you keep the whale blubber from spoiling? What is the truth about global warming? Are the polar bears really drowning when the broken patches of ice that they were stranded upon begin to melt? I'll bet that the folks in those isolated research stations are happy to get outside for a few days 'eh?
