sorry to say, unsearched on ebay usually means "ive searched these coins and put nice looking ones on the end", its not the sellers fault its the buyers fault

I think they meant a 1909 vdb on one end and a proof on the other.

125 bones for an "unsearched roll". If I could only put away my ethics for a while I'd be quite rich.
I don't even know what to think about that.

Buyer beware. You gambled - and lost. You basically paid $13 for the two coins on the ends and that is how you have to view it. Leaving a neg feedback is out of line, and shows irresponsibility by the buyer.
Unimpressed.

Unless a coin is certified, close to melt value or very inexpensive, buying on ebay is like walking through a mine field wearing clown shoes.

I think people are too sensitive to negative feedback. If a customer is unhappy with a purchase for whatever reason and won't buy again, that's a negative experience and should be recorded. That mirrors real life.
If I buy a bag of apples off a grocer and don't like the dirt under his fingernails at checkout and it turns me off buying from him again even though the apples were perfect, that's a negative experience for me and I'm likely going to relate that others.
Same would apply if the apples were over waxed and looked tasty but had mold growth on the inside.
Buyer beware, for sure, but do be honest in relating your disappointment. He's selling coins after all and not lottery tickets so if the coins are unpleasant saying so is not harmful. Let's face it, these "you might get lucky" sales are fly by night and saying you didn't get lucky is a way of tallying up the odds.

If buying the coin or apples in person - sure, that logic works. He got what was advertised via the internet. If its a negative experience who is to blame but the buyer who bought exactly what was advertised.....hoping to strike gold. Seller sold a chance, not a guarantee, and even went as far as to say he may only get 40's and 50's.
If you bought a lot of apples online, no dirty fingernail are involved. If the seller stated, "some of the apples may be rotten" and you bought them anyway - you'd have no one to blame but yourself when a box with rotten apples arrived via USPS.

Piece of advice. If you see "unsearched rolls" advertised make sure that you click on "seller's other auctions". If you see 20 auctions with the same description using the same pictures then it's obviously a scam. Other things to look for are rolls of wheats that just happen to have Mercury dimes, possible key dates or IH cents on the ends. The only luck I've had is with huge lots of 5000+ pennies. My dad bought a few of those 5 or 6 years ago and filled up a Wheat penny book with everything except 3 or 4 of the really really tough keys.

I sure wish "unsearched" and "rare" and "great speciman" and all similar terms were eliminated for more "technical" language but it is ebay and I have learned the hard way that it is rarely a good deal anymore

People have been searching wheats for decades. To find a truly unsearched lot is rare. If you're going to buy them at bulk assume that they're all common dates and base your bid on that.
