I sure hope not, because its not the prettiest toning on a Morgan I have ever seen unless the pictures really do not do it justice. I would think if it had vivid toning NGC would have given it a star. the reason I ask is because I just bought one in the same grade, graded by the same company for $244.50 less a couple weeks ago

It is not that pretty. I can not be 100% on the Vam-70 with the photos,(my eyes are not working yet) but there is only 9 type 7 TF 78 reverse long nock's and it looks right. It's a 64..... but I what to stay out of the air the guy was breathing that paid that much for it. What is the VAM price that you have on this?

Quote: I can not be 100% on the Vam-70 with the photos it is definitely a VAM-70 I know this for a fact Quote: dont see the disconnected leaves......... How about now? Quote: there is only 9 type 7 TF 78 reverse long nock's I know I have them all. I actually have a MS-65 VAM-70 (which will be one of the coins that brings my B1 Reverse registry set back to #1 where it was previously) but also just bought this one a few weeks ago and was the coin I was speaking about above in the same grade by the same graders http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...370330807518

I would suspect "misattribution" or someone crazy for color. I see this all the time on the Bay ... except for my offerings.

There was a second Long Nock in that grade which went for the same price, both from Internet bidders. I suspect a couple of rookie VAMmers got a little too enthusiastic about the whole affair, and got into a bidding war.

Quote: There was a second Long Nock in that grade which went for the same price and yet the VAM-80 MS-64DMPL only sold for something like $1100.00 and I have seen any old 1878 MS-64DMPL sell for double that Quote: I see this all the time on the Bay ... except for my offerings it seems we have the same bidders on both of our auctions then. Sure can't spark these peoples interest. Maybe where we are messing up is we tell them what VAM it is instead of making them think they are going to cherry pick us

Maybe where we are messing up is we tell them what VAM it is instead of making them think they are going to cherry pick us Yeah I tend to agree. If the listing has the VAM attributed and a commensurate price tag, I usually pass right by. There are very few "well funded" VAMmers out there (especially on ebay) and most lurk as cherry-pickers. When I list a popular offering, I will not attribute it, but show clear close-ups of the PUPs without being too obvious about it. There's a seller on the Bay right now with some cool 1878 VAMs that are raw and unattributed. But by looking at the close-ups provided he/she knows what they are and provide pics of areas on the coin not normally enhanced. There will be a bidding frenzy at the end. Oh did I forget to mention that I cherry-picked an 8TF 14.6 (raw XF), an 1878-S VAM 18 Spaghetti Wing (raw AU), an 1878 7/8TF VAM41C Bearded Lady (PCGS 63),and yet another 1880-O VAM 49 (Raw AU-55). Life is good!

I remember if it was a specific VAM the only way to sell it for anything what it was worth on ebay was to have it in the title so when they did a search it would show up. I guess there are allot more VAM collectors now and they are all looking to pay a premium for the coins they think they have cherry picked
