I guess, then, you're not too worried about staying Number One. As long as it doesn't come back "cleaned"...

even if it does (and GOD I hope it doesn't) I will still be 1181 points ahead of number 2 person. and it really doesn't keep me up at night unless the number pulls a MS-66 out of his rearend sometime soon

The coin is an easy 64 based on technical merits, but that gouge under her eye is awfully prominent. I worry that you'll only see 63 from it.

a 63 sounds great to me, atleast the hole will be filled! shatsi a B1 is a type of reverse on a 1878 Morgan, it is the exact same as a 8TF or 7/8 TF but it only has 7 TF's , it has a long nock (arrow shaft) like the 8TF morgans and theer are a VAM-70 (which is a TOP 100 Morgan), VAM-79 (which is a HOT 50 Morgan),VAM-80, VAM-81, VAM-82, VAM-83, VAN-84 EDS, and VAMN-84 LDS with a Clashed E on the reverse, There is also a VAM-84a (which NGC doesn't attribute yet) which has a clashed "N" on the obverse and the clashed "E" and a clashed "M" on the reverse (the M being from the designers intiials on liberty and the E coming from the E in LIBERTY) If you will go here and scroll down you will see all the different B1 reverse morgans I have them pictured and have shown the differences between all of them https://goccf.com/t/4651&SearchTerms=vam-70

Bryan, it occurs to me that you're in a position to possibly describe a new VAM. You occupy a very narrow specialty which few others also collect and certainly have the knowledge and eye for a new variety. Do you go through enough '78 Morgans to be able to find a new one? Fred

I look through every 1878 I can, I am always looking through all online auctions and alot of online stores studying each and every one of them. I have ebay notify me every time a 1878 is up at auction (which I am sure you do for 1921's). I just wish the 1878 was as affordable as the 1921's because I would have alot more in hand to study

Nah, I just subscribe to the Carson City Morgan series from ebay's notification system. And Flying Eagle cents. Keeps me on top of the market and I'm always looking for bargain basement prices on CC upgrades, e.g., a certifiable Mint State 1889CC for less than a hundred bucks. [:0] With qualifications, I let the post-1899 Morgans go by. Like you, I'm specialized, but with CC Morgans; I've got the full set, but I'm not satisfied enough with it to submit it as a Registry Set, especially after PCGS gutted my '90CC and '91CCs, setting me back a couple thou'. If ANACS ever gets its Registry Set system going, I'll go with them. I eventually may get into the CC VAMs, but not for awhile with a Jeep GC which needs a complete new rear axle and diffy. Gotta do lots of non-coin ebay selling this fall. I was pretty sure you'd be on top of the 78 Morgans. I've never heard of anyone as knowledgeable as you on 78 Morgan varieties nor had such a complete collection in a narrow niche market. Frankly, I'm in awe. Anyone who sets a goal such as yours and sticks to it so diligently through to completion has my admiration. Fred

aight heres what NGC thought this coin deserved But I have another VAM-81 that is unattributed in a MS-64 PCGS slab so I will be sending that one off to PCGS to get the MS-64 and will probably sell this one

I guess I'm a little disappointed for you that it came back "only MS-63", but on the bright side, at least NGC didn't bodybag it although that was never seriously in the wind. And you now have the PCGS MS-64 if they'll attribute it. So, you're in a win-win situation. Way to go, Bryan! Fred

yeah all I have to do is pay PCGS their 16.00 attribution fee to add it to the slab (its 5.00 for NGC) and pay for shipping and I will be aight then. Atleast I know I had attributed it correctly which was a big concern because I had never actually seen a VAM-81 in hand before and wasn't much to go on in the VAM book about this specific VAM, and there are 4 different B1 reverse Morgans that have the "disconnected leaf" so that was a plus even though I was sure this thing would be a 64
