Does this have anything to do with the recent roll-out of the HST..aka Harmonized Sales Tax? I guess when push comes to shove, it doesn't matter one way or another..I like your response. They should have eaten the variance in price until they got their website pricing proper. IMO I think a $600 order is large enough for them to do the right thing.

No I don't think so Dollar.
HST will introduce a larger grey market area here in Ontario (largest buying market) and I'll do more private and less retail buying/selling. Cash talks and bullpuckey walks right. Either that or the dealers can eat the 15% in price difference because I know I won't.
One of the pre HST benefits of ordering from BC/AB etc is not paying ON's 8%. When this changes so will I.

Well handled. Another fine example as to why coin dealers are not highly thought of.

Sorry but I have to quote that entire sentence It starts "i am a coin expert" and continues "so it is tough to say on condition or rarity variations. all need to be polished, once cleaned you could have some gems."

Ugly...don't accept the HST as something that will happen just yet. There has been a LOT of complaint against it, and I know I'll do everything I can personally to stop it. The government is supposed to work for YOU, not the other way around.
The "savings passed along to consumers" is BS. Given the choice between passing on savings, or pocketing the difference, I don't even have to say what they will do. The whole thing is one big mess, and it amounts to the Federal government bribing (literally) the provinces to bring it in.
25 cent piece, I think you handled that well. I'm curious to know who the seller is?

Just as an aside, Stick around, get 50 quality posts and you can tap into a big market of general coins here on the forum. For example, the least amount of proof like sets (uncirculated)in those years mentioned I have are the 63's and I have 22 of those. I'm not even a dealer. I just accumulate them as part of other deals and they happen to be a great bullion buy most of the time at 80% silver or 1.11 ounces per set.
Some of the bigger collectors on here could fill that order with better coins from their spares. The silver dollars in those years are a great example. There is no reason to settle for less than an MS-63 for around 20 each. If you just want variety to study, most of us have beaters in the melt pile waiting for silver to rise.

Thanks for the heads up ugly. My interest in that order was for silver mostly. I have two sons, my youngest has interest in our coin collection, we coin roll hunt together and also save for key pieces. He will inherit the collection as a family heirloom. My older son does not have the same interest in coin collecting, so I am investing in silver, among other things for his future. I will hold it for him until he is of an age to deal with it properly.

48, are you talking about Gordie the BC Dictator? He is, will be a goner, can not remember last time he spoke the truth... next thing we find out that there will be coins with the individual premiers on them on the obverse side next to a snake..... wo , could drive a guy to drink.....

I like it, hbkiddo. You managed political commentary whilst keeping the topic on coins.

The HST is bad enough of a grab at the wrong time but they are keeping the staff of both agencies and they are getting a severance bonus to keep working, 40000 each !! Any way , the dealers will have to adopt , I doubt they could absorb it, I hear they are Eyeing e-bay as well.It will definitely drive more private deals.

There's still lots of stigma over e-bay with dealers, though. One reason to open an e-bay account when you already have a retail store is to broaden the customer spectrum. However, I would think that the auction site be used to try and hit some homers and for little else.
