That shield is way too strong for a 1916 in that condition, in addition to the aforementioned diagnostics by the others already.

I wonder why a link to that other forum would be disallowed...

CU is a bit of a shark tank sometimes and their civility standards are significantly below the ones of this forum.

I just received this from heritage because I emailed them telling them about the problem

Thanks for your advice about the Standing Liberty quarter in lot 24493, auction 210063. You are correct about the diagnostics belonging to the 1917. The coin was withdrawn from the auction for review. Thanks so much for your help in this matter and please contact us in the future if you have further questions.

Best regards,

David Stone

I agree, I'm glad Heritage pulled the auction. Mpst likely it'll go to PCGS for review now.

Gotta be happy for the person that was about to get sucker-punched, and kudos to Heritage! Classy move.

Nice move on Heritages part to remove the auction for investigation. It just proves that they are not immune to oversight just as PCGS is not, the graders are still human just like the rest of us. One more reason to buy the coin and not the slab (I know, I feel it has been said 1,000 times). Buyers knowledge is probably the best hedge against getting ripped off.

Again it's the CCF to the rescue! Just another day making the hobby good for us all! It makes me proud to be part of this site!

I wonder how many bogus auctions CCF members have been able to stop?

Nice job, everyone!

it does not match the 1916 diagnostics.

Agreed. Nod's is a genuine 1916, and the one that PCGS supposedly certified isn't.
