If not, I can understand the thought of losing face (kinda like that V nickel).

That nickel is a test, but I think the CBH is the real sleeper. That's all I'll say.

I'll take a stab at these, I don't know anything about CBH , XF-40
susie is DCAM-PF69, and the tricky one V-nickle at AU-55, I think despite the grease I think the strike was pretty strong, I have know clue how it effects grades...AU55.....

its a good thing that V nickel is a 1883 NC or you would not be able to tell what date it was. I will take a guess that the CBH is XF-45 and the SBA is PF-68 and the V nicklel I have no idea how to grade struck through coins like this but I will say another XF-45

pit your grading skills against the experts

Did they have to grade these from online posting of scans?

It really helps to have it in hand, roll it in the light and magnify if necessary. I think a better challenge statement would be "pit your online grading skills against each other." Those "experts" wouldn't dare stake their reputations with a test like this.

Pontificating over ... now that I've leveled the playing field I believe I see mirrors on that CBH and oddly a weak strike (or possibly a filled die) in some areas that tends to look like wear (the shield is hammered but the eagle's head is less than full). If this was wear they would appear equal. The obverse stars are full diagnosis - MS60PL

I'm going to give Suzie more love than others - PF 70 HC.

And lastly the 1883 V nickel - XF-45 details Struck Through Grease

These are my opinions based on my experience of how scans obfuscate an image.

OK. Considering the habits of the grading companies involved....

CBH is AU-55, deserving of AU58. There is merit in SeatedNut's opinion, but I don't think ANACS agreed.

SBA is PR69HC. ANACS doesn't hand out 70's easily.

Nickel is AU-50, Struck Through Grease. I'm a grade higher than my personal opinion with this, but that's how I usually stack against SEGS.

Wonderful ..... not too bad for a newbie (me).

I missed the Suzie by 1 point ..... but recognized the PR DCAM nature of that lovely coin.

Nailed the nickel .... but failed to recognize the fact it could be dated as the only 'no-cent' variety in the 33 coin series.

Missed the CBH by 2 points ...... for sure that is not a series I have explored in my initial 2 years in the hobby.

I'm having a blast learning everyday ..... perhaps I'll take a crack at your newest challenges zeewool.

David

half is overgraded in my opinion...XF-45 details dipped was my grade. Glossy "prooflike' ish surfaces give it away.

I thought XF on the nickel.
