I just noticed that the reverse of the Mexican un onza is a history lesson - of different obverses used over the years on Mexican coins. Now I WANT ONE!

Those are some very nice looking sets.

I also have a complete set silver Eagles. I am curious about the the maple leafs and Libertad.
How many coins are there in each of those sets and are there any hard ones, that make them higher
than silver price.

Hey everyone!

Thanks for the comments!

On the American Eagle just like everyone says, the walking liberty design is by far the most beautiful aspect of the coin for me.

The Maple Leaf is what I love on the Canadian coin, they really struck it beautifully, when you look at one close up you really appreciate the texture on the leaf. I wish something else was chosen to adorn the other side instead of the Queen's portrait but Its still a nice coin.

My only pet peeve on the Canadian one is the size difference, for the sake of simplicity I wish they would have made them the same size as the Eagle & libertad, It is always a hassle to get the right size airtites for the Maple Leaf.

The Mexican Libertad is beautiful and I love all the obsolete eagles on the reverse but sometimes I feel it clutters up the reverse too much, unless you have a 2 oz or 5 oz libertad then it looks better. But either way, these are nice just kinda hard to get once and a while, most of the time you only find the older smaller 1oz "onzas" from the 80's and early 90's.

Hey andrew! I have thought exactly the same thing, that would be more beautiful in my opinion.

Hey GoldRush58!

Thank you! I started my Libertad set around 01-02 without knowing it would end up being a set, I would just buy a few here and there but never really wholeheartedly tried to complete a set until this year by chance there was a offer of a complete set so I went for it.

The MAJOR key date and hard to get coin for the Libertad hands down is the 1998.
The 1996, 1997, 1999 are semi key dates and the rest of them are still easy to get and obtainable.

On the Maple leaf, I just started that set but I know that 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, & 2001 are going to be tougher to find, I haven't reasearched price ranges yet, but I really hope they are not too bad.

I am really liking these ..

But still wonder ... how many each for a full set. I am not sure when they started making the maple leaf
and libertad.

I do know the ASE's started in 1986, I think there are 25 in my bullion Dansco.

I was in my local coin shop today, saw a Libertad and had to have it.
I blame it on this thread ...

And then there was a Kookaburra beside it .. had to have it also.

After seeing this post .. I agree they do look good beside the ASE and Maple leaf.

Hey COINAHOLIC!

Here's a salute to the North American Chickens! Those are awesome! Interesting coin, that one on the left!

Hey GoldRush58!

GREAT COINS!

Did he have any of the newer style libertad's by any chance? There kinda hard to come by at the shops and shows.
Now you got me tempted with that Australian Kookaburra! That is one beautiful coin, after I finish the maple leafs maybe I'll move onto the Australian coins, that is if silver is still affordable! The price of silver going all crazy is going to hamper my ability to finish my sets!

The maple leafs if I understand correctly are 1988 to 2010 and I believe there is a dual date coin dated 1999-2000 so that is a total of 24 coins. I guess Canada jumped on the bullion bandwagaon a couple years after the U.S.

The Mexican Libertad is a little trickier.

The very first bullion coin minted in Mexico was the "balance scale" onza in 1949 then again in 1978, 1979 & 1980 for a total of 4 coins.

The previous design "onza" was minted from 1982-1995 for a total of 14 coins.

The newer version has been minted from 1996-2010 for another 15 coins. "Libertad"

I have completed the "onza & libertad" set so that is 1982-present = 29 Coins but I think I am going to pick up all the "balance style" onzas in the future just for the heck sake of accomplishment. I've seen them selling online and they are not that expensive.
