Here is a pic of the date. To be honest, it seems to be the 104. However, I cant see any doubling in the text. In the guide, the tops of IBER seem to be weak and I can see the same on my coin. I can post more later.

Okay, I see Machine Doubling on the coin int he last post, and I honestly see nothing in any of the other posts. These are normal coins.

I agree Machine Doubling on all.

In response to this question

"I'm using a single eye loupe... how can I look through a nice quantity of coins with both eyes without all the strain!?"

Go out and find a stereo or dissection microscope (not a compound one). Doing this has greatly reduced my eye strain and made it so much easier for me to find things! if you search a lot of coins, you will not be sorry for this investment, I promise! Good luck!

I see MD coins on ebay and they do sell , I watched a few to see what they sold for , awhile back a 1995 cent with doubling in liberty (MD) sold for $15 .

For some reason people alway say Machine Doubling has no added value. When in fact some people collect them
and will bid on them

Coppertop - for the better part these are lesser experienced collectors who think they are getting a score on a doubled die for little of nothing. They are not educated in numismatics and do not know the difference. I can assure you with 100% confidence, my reputation, and 35 years in collecting, studying, researching and dealing in coins that Machine Doubling has no added premium value as an error or a variety. It is common, it is rather easy to find, and without a doubt has no value.

Now...if you want a bunch of them I can start holding them out during my roll searches. I generally just stuff them back in the bag. I would be willing to keep out all I find and sell them to ANYONE reading this post at $5 a roll (mixed wheats and memorials) for my time and trouble (plus whatever shipping turns out to be). Be ready for 10-20 rolls per month...that's about how much of it I see. Ready?

coppercoins, I have no doubt you are correct. I happen to collect the nicer examples just for fun. And yes I see lots of MD while searching but not as pronounced as the two on this post. If you would save examples with spreads like this, I would be interested in paying for your time. And just for the record, I do not sell these on ebay.If I ever did, they would be identified as Machine Doubling, but typically I have a hard time parting with pennies except to clear out an excess of a particular date.

Well, finding such a coin while searching certainly has value. Whatever it is worth, it was fun!

Maineman - Not a problem at all. I will return to searching through coins by the end of this month, and I should have your first roll ready within a couple of weeks after that. I will contact you with details once I have them together.
