I have noticed that the late 1860's and early 1870's, are pretty tough to find without corrosion issues. 1867-1872 are tougher indeed. I've have the 1872, need the 1871. swcoin.ecrater.com

Are you going to be in Long Beach on Saturday? Our coin club may get a van and all come down on Saturday. I really enjoy the Long Beach Show, it is my only chance to see certain dealers and to drool over Tom Reynolds table full of large cents.

I'm probably going to be there Friday. I may be there Saturday, I'll let you know. I know, Tom Reynolds has some incredible Large Cents! They don't even look real. He has one 1793 that looks like glossy brown plastic. It has to be MS67 or 68. He does not believe in slabbing. All his inventory is raw.

Sounds great. I'm working on my IHC collection, but have much further to go then you do. That's great that you have the 1877 key date, a very expensive one to fill. Nice job. |

Do you have a 1869/69 RPD? I found that one to be the hardest one so far to even find in any grade. I finally managed to purchase a nice problem free one, but it's in a lower grade than the rest of my set so far. Looking for that one was actually quite fun though and as I said, it's so hard to find in a problem free state.

Do not have any varieties in the series David. I'm concentrating on the regular issues at the moment, but would like to aquire some of these once the Dansco is complete. The 1888/7 Snow-1 FS-103 would be the dream coin!

In my early ebay days, I attempted to "cherrypick" these several times buying single 1888s....and I failed miserably both times...  Fortunately they were only a couple bucks each and it was fun learning anyways  ....but I remember looking for certain diagnostics like an obverse Die Cud and a weak feather. Anyways, a set of VF/XF Indian cents is a heck of an acomplishment! I'd love to see photos of your 1877 if you have them handy. |

Johnny, it's the PCGS FR02 in the grading forum. I definitely plan on upgrading to a VF example, but not right now, this one fills the hole at the moment. I use to have a very nice VF but sold it years ago :-( For now, the only grade below VF in the set, and the only one slabbed. I actually bought a few 1888's on ebay looking very closely at the sellers pics, thinking it was a Snow. They were not but, it was fun, the anticipation. swcoin.ecrater.com

I realized this after looking at my g/f's dad's set of Indians. I wasn't sure if yours has a hole for it or not. |
