Ok Thanks.
I was just wondering because the Proofed one is $65 while the Uncirculated one is $32 from the coin shop I'm looking at. The proofed one comes with the box and paper work it said.

As Eaglefoot said, it's up to you to decide.
Personally, I collect the proofs but occasionally I'll get an uncirculated one also if it looks really nice / has pretty toning. The uncirculated ones get sold on now & then but I plan on keeping the proof ones.

Are you collecting them as an investment or because you like how they look. As an investment only go with Unc. they are closer to melt value.As a collectible go with the Prf. or high grade Unc.IMHO,

I guess I'm really collecting them cause I always had a interest in coins. I don't really see myself selling them unless I run into hard times and need extra money.

i collect the uncirculated. and burnished. (only 3 + the error), just started on the proofs. they are kind of expensive so I only got a couple of them. very nice looking coins though.

in my honest opinion, I would be cautious to buy silver eagles right now with how volatile the market is. however, if you have the cash, then go for it!

if you are wanting to collect them its really up to you which you like best. Some people like the mirror fields of the proofs (myself included) and choose to collect those. Some people like being able to purchase the bullion version because of the price and you know they will make them each year no matter what, and as we all know the same isn't true with the proof version. I like the collectors version of the Uncirculated ASE (made with Burnished dies) and the Proofs but that is just me |

Debends on what you mean by better.
If you want to have all the proofs it is better to buy the proof one.
If you want all the bullion strikes it is better to buy the bullion one.
If you want both it is better to buy both.
If you want an investment it is better to buy a mutual fund.

Just mix and match. Buy a proof or two for your personal stash, but stock up on the regular bullion coins so you can diversify your portfolio with a true bullion investment.
By the way, if it's all about silver per dollar invested, U.S. junk silver is a way better deal.

I love the SAE it's a beautiful coin,I collect all I can afford to. I've got an album from 1986 to 2011 raw.A 25 year anniversary set NGC MS69. A collection of 1st year of issue,early releases MS69.Wish I started a NGC Proof 70 back in 1986 but I did not and that set is valued big time now.
Whatever you collect,whatever you can afford,enjoy the adventure. gasman96

Personally I like the beautiful cameo appearance on the proof coins. They have been priced a bit high for the last year or so. I don't mind paying 15-25% over spot but when the asking price is so far above spot, for what I consider a bullion coin-no matter how pretty, I hate to buy too many. If you are just talking one coin go for the proof. If you are talking quantity I would opt for the unc. Either way, you have to buy what makes you SMILE!

I collect the mints as well, but I wished I had started collecting the proofs early on, I think they look nicer. When I first started in the early 1990's I could only afford one style per year. Now I have three full sets of mints and burnished dies and I am retrofilling the proofs. Anyone wanting to sell NGC P69's let me know.
