I didn't think the 73 Ike was a key date...?

Other modern key dates: 1955 Franklin half, 1979 wide-rim SBA dollar, 1950D nickel, 1970s small date Lincoln Cent (if your into varieties)

I forgot about that, thanks condor. They really don't command much of a premium though so I don't think about them when thinking about keys.

Good question yotie. Also what about other varieties? CLAM,WAM? Will they ever make their way into albums? They would certainly be keys if they do...

There were at least one billion zinc 1982 cents from each mint, so I would not see them becoming a key.

Another modern key is the 1981 S Type 2 Lincoln Cent. And this coin be very careful when buying as a lot of these are being sold on ebay as Type 2's when they are really Type 1's.

I have been trying to acquire as many modern Keys as possible.

Ones I like are

Lincoln Cent
1970 S small date proof and UNC

Jefferson
1994 Matte proof
1997 Matte proof

Roosevelt
1996 W
1995 S silver proof
1997 S silver proof

Washington quarters
1995 S silver proof (under priced)
1997 S silver proof (under priced)
1999 S silver proof (all)
2001 S silver proof (all)
2008 S silver/clad (all)

Kennedy half
1970 D (only issued in mint set)
1995 S silver proof
1997 S silver proof
1998 S silver matte proof (set key)
1999 S silver proof
2001 S silver proof

Commemorative coins
There are many commemorative coins that
have very low mintage. Some with numbers from 15,000
to just over 30,000.

With a mintage of a mere 774,844 the Uncirculated bronze 2009 Lincolns only found in Mint Sets will probably see some appreciation. The proofs probably not nearly as much due to a mintage of well over 2 million.

Conditional keys would be BU 1982 and 1983 nickels through half dollars.

I agree ... I should have put these on my list.

When ever I am putting a new set together, that has these coins,
they are very difficult to find in better MS grades.

I am sure if I looked at my Jefferson, Roosevelt and Washington
sets there would be some 82 and 83's that I would like to upgrade.

These too would be good coins to have on a list to buy when ever you can find them at a good price, if they are BU/MS grades.
