I have to agree it dose not look correct. With the pictures that DVcollector posted there is no question it looks fake.

Before I looked at the other posts, I thought the tops of these 7s don't look right to me...I guess everyone thought so too.

Didn't notice the shallow/bold 'N' at first.

I agree with the other post .. both the "77" and the "N"
do not look like a authentic 1877 should

Both the digits of the 7s and the strong N's on the reverse tell me this one is fake.

I wonder how many albums this coin will pass through while the owner is blissfully unaware

It's up to $355, that is really sad. We should all inform the seller. I will give him the benefit of the doubt that he is not intentionally trying to dupe someone.

what us also sad is that someone is willing to pay that kind of $$ for a coin is poor shape like that. This coin has no eye appeal whatsoever.

Coinstar, no real expertise on my part--I had the same take on the date; the reverse clinched it.
Just think of the hassle people would avoid if they asked here before bidding on key dates?

Just the reverse tells it is not a true '77 IHC quit easily.
I can't believe anyone looking to spend that much on a coin would not
know the attributes of the reverse. It's well documented.
The date is just plain goofy looking.

I feel sorry for the guy that got a "good deal" for the key to the series at $406.00 for scrap metal

Instead of buying the coin, not the slab, they're buying the date, not the coin. Sad. As always-CAVEAT EMPTOR !

A great way to look at it!

Know the whole coin, not just the date.
