Thanks for the offer Ugly! I don't really need a couple rolls, just a couple/few examples. I remember seeing the "cracks" coming off both of the "1's" heading toward the rim, but didn't realize how much of this effect my coin had until now. Still not as extreme as above.

Quote: I think it's awesome! I want one. Me too! Especially one like ikandiggit's. I think I should have some Aussie coins that have a similar effect, but not as evident as ikandiggit's. I'll try & find them. If I do find them, I'd love to do a swap.

Wahhh! I already have one but the bleeding is quite smudged and is also on the Rev. Here are some combined scans. If I can find my similar Aussie coins, I'd still like to do a swap as the above coin is going into my 'Errors' album, so I'll have a new gap to fill in my Canada 10¢.

Here is a 2001 10¢ with the same kind of effect on the obverse. I saved it for the interesting "spokes" on the rim beads. It has the regular Bluenose reverse. I've heard it took a couple years to get the plating specs just right.

I've not seen anything like it. Could be a weird form of Die Deterioration. The comparison coins offered up seem only to show streaks extending radially from the outer portions of peripheral letters. Your coin shows extravagent development of raised extensions. They're not "trails", but exactly what they are, I couldn't tell you.

First of all, . I do not know how to post the exact thread link but if you look on page 5 and page 6, look down the lists and you will see several threads that have posted pics and discussed this very issue.

Easy as pie: Move your cursor to the top of the computer page where the line " http://www......." is; click on it to highlight it; then right click; select "copy", click; return your cursor to where you want to put that line; right click and paste.

thanks ikandiggit, I have had computers since 5 1/4 inch disks, but somethings are hard to embed into an older brain.

I was pointed to this topic because I posted something similar showing on a loonie that predates plating by a long shot. It can be found here: https://goccf.com/t/144723I realize that there were tons of 2001 volunteer coins like this but is there a place where a conclusion was made about the cause?
