The finest known, a PCGS PF-66(same one mentioned by vermontensium), sold in 2007 for $1.9 million to an anonymous buyer. DLRC brokered the sale with John Feigenbaum personally flying the coin cross-country for delivery.

Does anyone know how much the 2 lowest copies are worth each....a ball park figure would help?

I cannot imagine even the AG-3 example being worth much less than half a million dollars. Unlike the 1870-s Half Dime, it's conceivable that one of these could be up for sale some day. Their reputation is such that there will be folks with very deep pockets indeed waiting to write checks, should it come to pass.

And on that note, $1.9 Million in 2007 can turn into $2.5-$3 miilion real quick in 2011!

vermontensium:
Very true I guess each sale is unique there are really no price guides for such coins.

Can't wait for the day that one of the 2 lowest grades comes up for auction and see what they go for. That is if they don't stay in a certain family for multiple generations.

Quote: carl cmon-- you should know not enough were made to make a "roll" faker! This is the usual false records of the US Mint. Many coins that they make have no accurate records so that they can pocket the ones that are made to be rare. For example there were actually thousands of those made and the old Mint workers are selling them off one at a time. You should see my roll of 1913 Liberty Head Nickels too. I'm still wondering what to do with my box of 25 rolls of those silly 1856 Flying Eagle cents.

I'll take one too Carl! I also need the 1894-S to complete my Dansco. I made a special slot for it
