Interesting though how much it resembles a 1990 + dated mintmark.

I just checked http://varietyvista.com/Denver%20Mi...s%20Cent.htm and it does look a little different but I think the MM punch was just abraded too much. Looks nice but I doubt it adds any value but I am no pro.

I'm not sure what any of you are seeing. It's a completely normal coin.

I'm still getting my feet wet and have a lot to learn about the series... Here's a side by side. This is a normal tolerance then?

I'm with Indian1 on this, defintely looks like a MM from the 90's..might not be worth anything but it sure would catch my eye.

It can be caused by an overabraded die or a weak punch

Coop- you left out about 19 different types of appearance of the MM punch used for the '64-D cent shown. Do you want me to image and send you the rest? I could then start on the ten thousand different placements of the 60-D mm. I know someone's gonna ask.....

Each mint mark was done by hand on the dies for the mint marked locations. How many times they stike the punch into the die can affect the size/width/height/location/rotation of the mint mark. They were eye determined if they were struck deep enough. We are looking at the end result by examining coins. The 1960-D RPMs I'm very familiar with. I've taken a very large number of them through the years. That year is my favorite one for die varieties.

That's awesome Coop! You really have an ability to articulate what you already know.

You're a valuable member for sure.

I'm not giving you a hard time now, not at all. Could you share your insight in text along with your images? The two will be a powerful combination.

Perhaps my dry sense of humor has gotten the better of me. Everything above is genuine, I really mean it as a compliment coop. You are a wealth of images, if you share what knowledge you also embody, it will further enrich everyone who reads.

All jokes aside.

No, there is usually no premium for a MM like that.

As coop put it, those hand-punched MM can vary a lot in location, strength, rotation, etc... But just because there is no premium attached, doesn't mean it is not a cool MM for that year.

*edited...phrased that wrong...came out badly

Okay, I have been through hundreds of rolls of 1964D cents, if not nearly a thousand. It is normal. This is a normal coin, and the mintmark is normal.

Is that better?
