Copper in Billion form has always carried a premium. It's just not readily available.

1 pound bars go anywhere from $6-12 dollars.

even at $12 per pound:
20 coins of 1 oz each, that works out to spot value around $15, with a profit of $21

So you're complaining that the prices of copper AE are too high or you find it funny that people are paying that much?
You may know coin value, but you obviously don't know simple business tactics or maybe you do but are just too far beyond buying copper.

Take this for example, the guy who sold it for 10.50 and the guy that bought 100 for $157. If the second guy sells those hundred to people that buy them for 10.50, how much has he made? $1,050.00! So he's pretty much made over $800 in profit, if he also pays for shipping. Even if he cleared $5.00 per, he's at least doubled his money.

So while you're "ROFL" this guy's made a stash of cash and LATWTTB (laughing all the way to the bank) while people are fighting to pay well over the spot on silver.

Some may say copper is the new silver, well if the silver people don't know and don't catch on, it very well could be.

Who mints those ACEs? I hadn't seen those before. At a recent coin show, I saw 1/2 and 1 lb copper bars with Indians, Am Eagles, etc. imprinted on them, but not actual 1oz coins. Are these "official" or just someone's smart idea for marketing 1oz copper? I wouldn't mind having a roll of them...definitely interesting. But I don't know about $36 for 20oz copper...

So how come we don't see any ATEs (tin)? Seems to me that these would be more attractive coins than copper and would be worth more ($7.40/lb vs. $4.40/lb). Might be kind of cool to have a tin coin. Anyone know if a tin coin is minted anywhere in the world? Any place where tin is mined and processed would be a good choice.

I put stuff on my list like this to see if any one buys it with no plans to buy myself, and these 500 copper ASE's sold for 712 total. Makes me think many are planning to cash in way down the road perhaps, as even though I do see the occasional bad bid on these coins up around 10 bucks for one like mentioned above, many end at 3 bucks with no bids however....

I like it. Wonder who minted it? I would buy it for $5-7. Just to have one.

A quick google search shows them being sold directly for $9 each. Also, they use avoirdupois weight so they are a little less than a troy ounce.

If you cater to tightwads customers who aren't ready to lay out the big bucks right now, be sure to stock up on these:

60¢ for ¼ ounce.

Good one Fredd, ....

So 25 oz. of 100 total 1/4 oz. copper rounds for 60 bucks....

That breaks down to $2.40 per oz., and copper is how much a pound, seems like it is around 6 bucks a pound, not much premium there eh, lol....
Rest in Peace

What gets me is people paying $10+ an ounce for copper, when we offered a wide selection of silver rounds at $9.95 in holders, when silver was $6-8 an ounce.

I made fun of my father for buying some of these then got to thinking a little more about it. Basically, when you buy them for a buck or so, you are only really paying for the manufacturing cost. There will always be a premium above spot for the cost of refining and minting them. Same with the silver eagles direct from the mint. They charge $2, I believe, over spot, for them in bulk. So that said, this means that this price is the cheapest you will ever be able to buy these 'coins' for. I wouldn't buy them buy the truckload, but if I could get 100 for $117 (what a lot sold for on ebay a few days ago) I think it might be a good idea.
