My old whitman album says "1922 no mintmark" and that is what is in there. Of course the reverse is weak so it's not the "right" die pair but it looks great in there! It's one of the nicer weak d if ever seen.

It is an error coin...produced by the Denver mint. Nothing more, nothing less.

What if there really was a 1922 Phily cent coin made there and they just don't want YOU to know that. Just like in 1965, 66 and 67 there really could have been coin minted in SanFrancisco but kept a secret by not putting the S on them. This would make the amount minted larger and those working in the Phily Mint make more money although they didn't really do much. And I also have a 1908 Lincoln Cent in my collection too. But it's only a type 2 I put this in my Album #1

justcarl - WAY too much evidence about the conspiracy theory. The 1922 Lincoln no mint mark, is an error. Over polished dies due to using the dies too long is the reason. :)

One of the minor problems with Dansco. So many of mine have turned that same blue color. Quote: Not as nice as Carl's but here's my sweet 1922's in a sad dansco (blue)
And I too am not the only one that is ashamed to say the name of Blue Albums. I've just got to go out and buy some brown paint for my Albums. Last Sunday at a coin show I asked a dealer that was selling Albums if he carried Whitman's and he just laughed.

On my conception if you have all 3 coins are the same coin once only the Denver mint produced them at the time so don't really matter if d , weak d or no d they all come to be a 1922d LWC but for sure if I could pay for all I would have and if not I'm happy with only one ! I'm glad my folder have only one hole for a 1922d because is there no such thing as variety talking of 1922d but a missing mm ! In my conception the one with no d was supposed to be the cheaper one but is just me ! I respect everyone's op but the no d has to be treated as an error coin and weak or strong reverse strike is just a case of adjustment or wear of the dies . Again JUS TME !
