It's an easy high EF to low AU with something going on in that date.

Just my opinion. It will get an EF grade in todays world maybe even an AU50. That's good for you. I look at the degree
of wear, luster, strike etc. and decide from there. I mentioned in another post once before that I never take anything anyone personally states about one of my coins personally. I think that came out correct :)
Nothing to do with the OP but I am planning on starting a thread about "cleaned coins" in the future. I'll probably wished that I never did but it will be food for thought.
Basically it will start off like this: "Has anyone ever seen a coin that was not cleaned" More later so no need to discuss on this post.
I stated a solid 35.
Thanks. And nice coin by the way, no matter what the final grade will be.

Indian1, check this out on that grade: http://www.indiancent.com/grading.pdf ...

Nothing in this grading game is written in stone, understand, but this is a pretty well thought out grading guide, as far as those go. Personally, I don't agree with all of it, but with much of it.

PS: Looking forward to your thread on cleaning. FWIW, I've seen many coins that hadn't been cleaned. But, as you said, we shan't get into that, here (I can wait).

I would call this coin EF40, some wear on the lower hair curl, head band and feathers (it may just be a very weak strike, but the feathers seem to lack a lot of detail) Reverse look nice. I don't know if it's been cleaned, but it may have environmental damage causing the dark toning.

A solid EF-40.
It may have been cleaned, but I think environmental damage is a better explanation because of the dark toning.

Your coin has the hair/ribbon/diamond requirements for an XF45+, imo.
Rick Snow has published a nice guide on grading IHCs (pdf).

Well, look at that!
It's a good guide for delineating between grades, and more or less tracks to my grading books.
