Actually I couldn't come up with an answer. The reason is why would anyone want just one coin. Sort of like a sword collector with only one sword. Or a car collector with only one car. Even a Beanie Babie collector needs more than one.

Well its a highly theoretical question, lol

But I really like the 1/10th oz AGE, they look great, and are small enough to be very liquid-able.

But I do love those Gauden double eagles, I just cant justify spending that much on a coin... I usually spend a couple hundred dollars at a time...

That's an easy one.
1847 Gothic Crown Undecimo

IMHO, I think this is as close as you can get to perfection on a coin...

Owning only 1 coin doesn't make a collection

So I wouldn't be able to pick just 1

High grade 1911 S Lincoln, RED.

High grade Buffalo nickels - higher the grade and the more common the better.

High grade Washington quarters.

Go Thunder - yep it's sterling. GB Victorian silver coins were silver. I should also post the reverse. It's a shame that they go for several thousand dollars, or I would own several of them...

I think if I had to invest in only 1 coin, I'd have to go with the 1916-D Mercury dime. A beautiful, beautiful rarity.

Well since the question was simple, I would have to say a very nice 1799 silver dollar. I don't think I could just collect 1 though like others said, but I do understand your question. To others, he wasn't asking to throw all your coins out and pick 1. He was simply seeing what coin you would choose for an investment purpose if it had to be 1.

I'd have to go with a 1916 SLQ in mid-MS. Conversely, one of the 1917 Type 1 SLQ's that were struck as specimen coins and are "known" to exist.
