I would have left negative for sure! Everything you explained warranted it. CCFers: Just because someone has a great feedback history is no reason not to tell your side honestly. Neutral feedback is like getting a warning from a mall cop on a segway (no offense to Paul Blart). Don't be intimidated by their high feedbacks. This will only result in other people doing the same thing. Now if another buyers get the same course of action they may check the feedback and miss yours and not have the gull to act out.

I was at a potluck where a lady had made a beautiful dessert, and no one touched it. She was on the verge of tears. I fixed the problem by taking a large messy scoop right out of the center. The rest didn't last five minutes. Ever attend a fried chicken banquet? Especially at a more upscale place? Everyone plays with their potatoes, stirs their kaughy, or otherwise stalls. Pick up a big chunk with your fingers, say "I love the chicken here", and watch everyone else in the hall pick theirs up. Same thing on ebay. Seller has 100%, but did something really stupid, deserving a neg. Buyer figgers since the seller has 100%, maybe it's him, or at least doesn't want to smear the seller's rep. Post a neg, and it will often be followed by a half dozen other negs, often within hours.

This is true, had the product been damaged, I would most certainly have left negative.

I Had an $80(value) uncirculated banknote just put in an envelope and shipped. Was on its way to circulated when it arrived. Yay!

I once won an auction on shopgoodwill for a silver cert star note that was graded almost perfect and they shipped it in a box which was curved to fit in the box.... Needless to say, I was quite livid...

Quote: I've had some pretty bad packaging -- taping a coin to paper, etc That has been one of my pet peeves. Buy a coin on ebay, it arrives and its taped to the paper or an index card. Grrrr.....

I had a Capped Bust half show up loose in an envelope that had gotten bent and dented - probably going through the USPS sorting machines.
Really sellers? Not even a few sheets of paper on a $60.00+ coin? No bubble wrap or Safe-T-Mailer?
Also seller had over a 1000+ positive feedback, they refused to take the coin back, I left them appropriate feedback. Sorry it was several years ago and can't remember them anymore so I can't say whom it was, but I would out them if I could.

I have had some bad packaging, too. Luckily, I don't buy expensive coins on ebay for that reason. I also can't stand the "taping to the invoice" thing, or the "putting in loose envelope" routine from sellers. :(

I'll never forget buying a $500+ coin from a guy involved with EAC--and paying him some extra money to make sure it got sent in a double-padded mailer. He took my money and sent it in a plain envelope--well, a smaller env. inside contained the coin. I asked him why he took my money and sent it that way. He said "It's the way I send every coin". I think some people are completely immune to seeing the perspective of anyone but themselves.

Won a junk lot from ebay a while ago - the seller simply wound out some tape, stuck the coins directly to the sticky mess then wound the tape back into a roll - no other packaging (apart from the envelope)...

I ordered a well circulated Barber half quite a while ago and the seller put the coin in an envelope. No tape, no packaging, just a loose coin in a loose envelope. Of course it wasn't a proof or MS coin so I wasn't enraged, but I was angry enough to give the guy a very wordy email. If I remembered the seller I would sure warn you all.

My wors experience, and it was one time I had to leave a negative feedback, was a silver gilded with gold piece taped to the invoice, and the gold came off on the tape. So, I had some glue and not so much god on the coin. He asked why I dd not return it for a refund. Te shipping would have been too high a percentage of the initial cost, so I kept it as scrap silver, 0.75 oz.

One time I saw a coin that was loose and in bubble wrap. Had to include bubble wrap to keep the coin from breaking!

Just bought two coins from a popular auctionzip site. Seller had the 2 coins in 2x2 cardboard holders loose in an envelope. The staples from one punctured the mylar on the other and put a tiny scratch on it. Luckly the coin was a well circulated one and the scratch is really small, so the value wasn't affected. BUT REALLY>>>>give me a break. So I just emailed the seller and he thanked me for the info and said they'd do better in the future.
