Yes danlos9551, we are talking about the same mule...Olympic symbol instead of the paralympic symbol. I just checked ebay and couldnt find any available. They do pop up every now and then so keep your eyes open. Very few dealers have them available as collectors like you and I snatch them up . Good luck with your quest.

Danlos9551, are you saying you just bought one or you see one listed at $450 ? Cause I dont see it listed.

I got the one that was listed for $1300. Offered $450 and the seller took it. That's how I got two of my 2000 millenium map mules as well, just submitted my price and bingo.
These coins, if there's really < 100 known of the 2000 mule, and similar for the 2007 mule, should trade in the $3000-$5000 range...
Of course, that may take time :)

I have two of the 2000 map mules. One is MS 63 and the other is MS 64. I plan on sitting on the mules and errors that I have for quite some time. As you say they will most surely rise in value.

Although rare these mules are all NCLT not business strikes,I believe in the loooonng term, high grade business strikes will be much more sought after. Keep in mind too that only a fraction of the sets these mules come from are in the hands of collectors,Most are owned by kids with gifting grammas.

If Canadian coins ever catch on...I think these mules will catch fire because they're so rare...
Plus...the 2000 mule has a business strike obverse, making it all the more fascinating.
With only about 100 coins known...it will be very easy for someone (like me or darryl) to hoard them and make them impossible to get :D....

If I had all 100 samples I would keep the absolute best specimen and then wear down the 99 others to G. (Not defacing or destroying hehehehe) Collectors would go raging mad at the auction trying to obtain the one and only MS coin. lol

and may have happened with the 1906 25c small crown :)

It almost certainly was attempted with the 1973 large bust 25c. Some dealer was trying to corner the market, way back when.

Hi, I have some knowledge of the wheel chair curling mule, I am credited with discovering this mule.(see Canadian Coin news) I ordered 10 of the PL sets from the mint and put them away for a little while. I also was buying mint roll from the royal bank I t was a few weeks later when I was entering the coins into my database that I noticed the difference be the roll coin an one of my PL sets. I ended up with 7 mule sets. During the next 3 months I visited coin stores and post offices tiring to acquire more, to no avail. Only then did I contact Canadian coin news. The 3 sets that were not mule sets were in different plastic. I was able to find out that the PL sets were struck in Ottawa on low speed presses in small batches as demand requires. (Winnipeg uses high speed presses for the circulation coins) The low speed press should give a better strike. Anyway as near as I can determine that the wheelchair curling mule was created on the first run after changing the plastic wrap as near as we could figure out there should be about 700 mule sets out there. It is very hard to get precise information from the mint. At first there were a good number on the market. People that were lucky enough to get them from the mint sold them for a quick profit. I have 2 left one is currently listed on ebay for $460.00 It will take time for the coin collecting community to realize how rare it really is. Leo55

I recently bought a set on ebay for $390 Cdn. I think it is a good investment and suspect this coin will rise in value in the future.

Have many Olympic wheelchair mules surfaced over the years? I was lucky enough to snag one over the past few weeks and was just wondering how rare they actually are?
