Have you tried scanning the coins?

no never tried scanning them, I will try that now and see how it goes Ok this is the best I could get with the scanner, the blues and stuff doesn't seem to pick up like the yellows and stuff does arounf the rim, but it has blues and reds and greens in there also

I think this could be a very good topic. I don't have any toned coins the only one I have is a Roosevelt dime but just black not colorful. but I think it owuld be nice to see everyone toned coins even though I am not into them it might help new collector deside they want to go the toned route. As soon as I do get a toned coin I will post it don't think it will be any time soon though

AuldFartte, I actually like a lot of darkside/lightside coins too, and those are some cool coins you posted. Bryan, 1878's (any mintmark) are tough to find with attractive color and that's a really nice piece you shared with us!

actually both of my coins I was refering to are 1878, one (the one above) is a VAM-84 (graded MS-65 by PCGS 1 of 1 in this grade) and the other a VAM-82 (graded MS-64 by PCGS also a highest graded coin) and both are B1 reverse Morgans

The only toned coin I have that I would like opinions on would be this one: I just got it and grading or opinions would be helpful. Thanks, Diana P.S. All the coins above have their appeal. (It's a shame some of us are still on dial up and probably will never see the whole coin) :(

How about this one? I bought it for my son when it looked like he was going to want to collect coins. He has recently decided he is not interested, so it's mine again...
